Assistance on arrival at the airport, later visit Kamakhya Temple
On arrival at airport, you will be met by a TOTAL HOLIDAY OPTIONS Executive at the arrival lounge holding up a placard who will assist you with a transfer to your accommodation. Guwahati, lying between the eastern flanks of the Himalayan mountain range on one side and the river Brahmaputra on the other, is the political capital of the state, also famously regarded as the gateway to North-East India. Later visit Kamakhya Temple it's a renowned Hindu temple located at Nilachal Hill in Guwahati, Assam, India. It is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for devotees of the Shakti sect of Hinduism. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya, who is considered a form of the goddess Durga.
Travel to Kaziranga
Morning assistance on departure at hotel and travel to Kaziranga National Park, home to the largest population of the one-horned rhino on earth. It stands tall as the essence of successful wildlife conservation in India. It was awarded the status of a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985. It is also home to other species of mammals, predators, reptiles and avian wildlife.
Check-in at Hotel, afternoon explore local village and temples
On arrival at Kaziranga National Park, transfer to your accommodation. Afternoon you are free to explore the local town, temples and surroundings.
Morning and afternoon safari
Early morning, we start with our third Jeep safari (on private basis) into the National Park with naturalist. Return to the resort for breakfast and in the afternoon go on your fourth safari into the different region of the park. Evening free for your own activity.
Travel to Majuli Island
Drive to Nimati Ghat (near Jorhat) and then board the shared local ferry. Cruise sailing is approx. 1½ hrs to Majuli. Majuli is the largest freshwater mid-river deltoid island in the world. It is situated in the upper reaches of the river Brahmaputra in Assam. This Island, with a population of 1.6 Lakhs, the majority being tribal, is endowed with rich heritage and has been the abode of the neo-vaishnavite culture. The island is a biodiversity hotspot and has rich ecology with rare species of flora and fauna. Majuli for the past five centuries has been the cultural capital of Assam. The main depositories of cultural and spiritual heritage are the Sattras, which are just like Gurukul (hermitages) of yore. Here up to 400 celibates' stay for life-preserving spiritual and cultural heritage, renouncing worldly desires. It is said to be the cradle of Missing and Deori cultures.
Check in at Hotel & visit local villages for Tribes
On arrival in Majuli, check-in at your hotel. Situated in the heart of Assam is Majuli Island. Majuli means land amid two rivers. Scattered along the flowing stream of mighty Brahmaputra River are several islands. Majuli is the biggest among them that is encapsulated by the Brahmaputra River having a rich blend of soothing natural splendour, zealous culture and fascinating history. visit Satras, Mishing tribal village, Mask making village and Pottery village.
Travel to Sivasagar
Morning check out and transfer to Ghat to board your return ferry to Nimatighat. Arrive Nimatighat and straight drive to Sivsagar which was the capital of the Ahom rulers from 1228 to 1826 AD. Sivasagar got its present name from Sivasagar Tank, excavated by the Ahom queen Ambika. The tank was named after her husband, Shiva Singha. Sivasagar tank is also known as Borpukhuri, literally, big lake.
Check in at Hotel and proceed for sightseeing of Sivasagar
On arriving Sivasagar, check-in at your accommodation and later proceed for sightseeing visiting the Gargaon Palace, once the royal seat of the Ahom Dynasty. Rang Ghar, the royal observatory, Talatal Ghar, one of the most popular attractions of Sivasagar famous for lovely architecture, design and the great upkeep.
Travel to Dibrugarh
Morning travel to Dibrugarh, a Tea city of India owes its moniker to the fact that it serves as the gateway to Dibrugarh, Tinsukia and Sibsagar, the three districts which produce almost 50% of Assam tea.
Check in at Hotel and proceed for sightseeing
On arrival, transfer to accommodation for check-in. Later visit local Tea Gardens and Planters Golf club. The club was built for the planters and their wives to enjoy the cool climate of Darjeeling. It was a meeting place for the planters and an escape for others. There were gala evenings when a black tie was mandatory and sit down dinners were served with aplomb. As you walk up the ramp from the upper Clubside Taxi Stand, you will see the large open patio of the club. The slopes and the potted plants when in bloom provide a lovely backdrop to the walkway and around the club. There are cushioned wrought iron chairs and marble tables in the open space, and large cane chairs in the adjoining veranda where you can sit and watch the unabated view of the snow peaks and Kanchenjunga. Some members come and sit here only to watch the world go by.
