In 11 days, tour, you will experience the best of Borneo’s in terms of nature, culture, and adventure. This will take you to remote and untouched areas that offer the very best of sights and contact with the natural environment. You may have to compromise a bit of comfort, but you will be rewarded with the experience of travelling to parts of Borneo that few get to see. Accommodation is generally of a good standard but there are several nights in basic jungle lodges, some without air con. The program is compact but well-paced. Average fitness is required.

DAY 1

Arrive Kuching

Kuching is the capital of Sarawak, located on the island of Borneo in Malaysia, known for its rich cultural heritage and colonial architecture. On arrival at the Kuching International airport, meet your Tour Executive who will assist you and transfer to the hotel. Stay three nights in Kuching.

    DAY 2

    Semenggoh Orang Utan Center & Sarawak River Sunset Cruise

    0745–0800 hrs – Pick-up from The Waterfront Hotel for a visit to the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, located 24 km from Kuching. This renowned rehabilitation centre offers the chance to see semi-wild orangutans in their natural environment. The orangutans, many of which were rescued or orphaned, often return to the centre during feeding times. Visitors can observe them in a natural amphitheatre setting while rangers share insights into the centre’s mission and conservation efforts. After the visit, return to your hotel. Afternoon – Free at leisure. Around 1700 hrs, walk from your hotel to the Kuching Waterfront promenade. At 1730 hrs, board the MV Equatorial for a 1.5-hour sunset river cruise along the Sarawak River. This relaxing journey offers panoramic views of Kuching, with Mount Serapi forming a dramatic backdrop. The cruise offers a glimpse into the city's past, before the era of modern transport. After enjoying the sunset from the deck, return on foot to your nearby hotel.

    DAY 3

    Excursion to Bako National Park

    0750–0810 hrs – You will be picked up from your hotel in Kuching and driven approximately 35 minutes to Bako Village, the starting point for trips to Bako National Park. From the village, continue with a 25-minute boat ride to the park headquarters. Along the way, watch for wildlife such as crocodiles, sea eagles, and other coastal birds. Upon arrival, begin exploring Bako National Park, one of Sarawak’s top spots for viewing wildlife in the wild. The park is home to a wide variety of species, including the rare proboscis monkey, silvered langurs, long-tailed macaques, wild boars, monitor lizards, and many bird species. Bako also boasts a diverse range of ecosystems—from mangroves and heath forest to swamp, cliff, and beach vegetation. A network of trails allows access to different parts of the park, catering to various interests and fitness levels. The park’s scenic coastline features secluded bays, coves, and unspoiled beaches. Return to Kuching in the mid-afternoon.

    DAY 4

    Drive to the Batang Ai Reservoir and travel upriver to Nanga Sumpa.

    Early morning, 0750-0810 hours pick up from hotel in Kuching and drive to Batang Ai reservoir. Along the way stop at Lachau Bazaar. Stroll around the shops and the small native market and have an early lunch in a local coffee shop. Then continue your journey, arriving at Batang Ai Lake around 1330-1400 hours. Later, board a longboat and travel upriver to Nanga Sumpa.

    Check-in & relax

    Upon arrival, unwind at your lodge. After dinner, take a visit to the Nanga Sumpa longhouse, where you can relax on the ruai (the communal verandah) and spend time with the Iban community. Enjoy meaningful interactions, gain insights into their culture, and sample some traditional local rice wine.

    DAY 5

    Excursion to Enseluai waterfall

    After breakfast, embark on a hike along the jungle trails that follow the river. Continue your journey upriver by longboat, heading towards the stunning Enseluai Waterfall. Along the way, if conditions allow, your boatman may make a stop to demonstrate traditional Iban fishing using a jala (throw net). Upon reaching the waterfall, take time to relax, swim, and soak in the serene rainforest surroundings. Enjoy a riverside BBQ lunch prepared by your Iban hosts before making your way back to the lodge. After dinner, visit the Nanga Sumpa longhouse again, unwind on the ruai (communal verandah), spend time with the Iban people, and savor some traditional local rice wine.

    DAY 6

    Visit to Enseluai Waterfall and a short Rainforest Trek Trail

    Following breakfast hike the jungle trails along the river. Then continue upriver by longboat. Our destination is the scenic Enseluai waterfall. Arrive at the waterfall and have time to relax, swim and enjoy the rainforest surroundings. Enjoy a riverside BBQ lunch prepared by your Iban hosts. At 1330-1400 hours proceed by boat (approx. 15 mins) to the junction of the Delok and Lalang Rivers. Then trek for 1-2 hours along a rainforest trail through orangutan habitat.

    Check in & Relax

    Arrive at Lubok Kasai Jungle Camp, nestled along the banks of the Lalang River. Settle in and take time to unwind—go for a swim in the river or simply enjoy the peaceful rainforest atmosphere. This area is occasionally visited by orangutans, particularly around dawn or dusk. After dinner, enjoy a quiet evening at the camp, soaking in the tranquillity of the forest. Alternatively, if weather permits, you may take a short 30-minute night walk near the lodge to experience the jungle after dark.

    DAY 7

    Travel to Kuching

    Enjoy breakfast at the camp, then at 0830 hrs, begin your journey downriver to the Batang Ai Lake jetty, arriving around 1030–1100 hrs. From there, continue overland back to Kuching, with a lunch stop along the way.

    DAY 8

    Rainforest Kayaking

    0750–0810 hrs – You’ll be picked up from your hotel and driven for about an hour to Bengoh Village, the launch point for your kayaking adventure. Glide along a scenic river flanked by limestone hills and dense tropical rainforest. The mostly calm waters are occasionally broken by gentle Class 1 to 2 rapids, offering just the right mix of relaxation and thrill. Pause along the route to soak in the jungle atmosphere, visit a traditional Bidayuh village, and cool off with a swim in the crystal-clear mountain stream. Enjoy a light picnic lunch on a sandy riverbank surrounded by nature. Your journey concludes at the charming village of Semadang, before heading back to Kuching. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at leisure.

    DAY 9

    Flight to Mulu National Park

    After breakfast, transfer to Kuching airport to board a flight to Mulu National Park.

    Check-in and excursion to Deer & Lang Caves

    Arrive at Mulu airport in the morning and transfer to your accommodation for check in. In the afternoon, proceed to the park headquarters and enjoy a scenic 3 km plankwalk through primary rainforest to the entrance of Deer Cave. Deer Cave is the world's largest cave passage. Its scale its awesome and you are in no doubt how huge it is when you arrive at the cave entrance. The entrance of the cave is 150 m wide and 120 m high. Nowhere in this massive cave is the roof less than 90 m high. The cave has a moon-like landscape and from one vantage point, a perfect profile of President Lincoln can be observed. Next to Deer Cave is Lang’s Cave. The stalactites and stalagmites inside this cave are representative of the very best limestone formations in the park. After viewing the two caves, proceed to the Bat Observatory outside Deer Cave. Most evenings at sundown, a spectacular exodus of about 2 million of bats can be observed as they leave the cave in search of food. Then trek back to the park HQ by torchlight and return to accommodation.

    DAY 10

    Excursion to Clearwater & Wind Caves

    In the morning, take a longboat ride upriver to visit Wind Cave, home to the impressive King’s Chamber, where delicate lace-like stalactites and stalagmites showcase some of the finest cave formations in Mulu. From there, follow a short plankwalk along a limestone cliff to reach Clearwater Cave. After a climb of approximately 250 concrete steps, you'll arrive at the cave entrance. Clearwater Cave, like many in Mulu, supports a range of unique plant species, including the rare one-leafed plant, found only in this region. Light-sensitive algae grow on some of the rocks inside, forming needle-like structures that point toward light sources. Just outside the cave, you'll find a beautiful natural swimming area, shaded by towering rainforest trees. Enjoy a picnic lunch, take a refreshing swim, or simply relax in this serene setting before returning to your accommodation. The afternoon is free for you to enjoy at your leisure.

    DAY 11

    Transfer to board a flight to Kota Kinabalu

    Enjoy your breakfast and impressive Mulu Canopy Skywalk before you are transferred to board a flight to Kota Kinabalu.
