Over the Atlas Mountains, across the Sahara and along the wild coast; tap into your inner adventurer on this 10-day Moroccan epic.  Amongst the towering sands of the Sahara Desert, you’ll embark on a camel expedition across the Sahara to reach your luxury desert camp. You’ll sandboard down blazing red dunes, bathe like a Berber in hot sands and lie beneath a blanket of stars. As the Atlas Mountains rise around you, discover crumbling ochre kasbahs and hike beneath 300m high rock walls.  In Marrakech, you’ll forgo busy food stalls for back-street dining and race across a desert to a soaring plateau in a vintage sidecar. Rooftop drinks in beautiful hidden riads will become part of your daily routine, whilst true friendships with like-minded travellers will blossom under the warm Moroccan sun.

DAY 1

On arrival at the Marrakech Airport, you will be met by Tour Escort who will assist you with the transfer to the hotel. The remaining day is free to relax or explore the town. Stay Three nights in Marrakech.

DAY 2

After breakfast, head out for a full day city tour of the Historical Marrakech. Visit the iconic Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace and the Saadian tombs. Afterwards, head to the medina for lunch, followed by afternoon visits of the medina and the souks. In the evening, visit the famous Djemaa el Fna square, which becomes especially lively at night.

DAY 3

After breakfast visits the Museum of Contemporary African Art Al Maaden which showcases work from across the African continent. View a variety of multimedia works, along with any special exhibitions that are on display.

In the afternoon, roll up your sleeves for an immersive and fun cooking experience! Accompanied by a local “dada”, or expert cook, dig into all of the key components of a Moroccan meal, starting with how to prepare the famous Moroccan mint tea and bake Moroccan bread. From there, the hands-on portion of the course begins as you prepare the main course of a chicken and preserved lemon tagine, along with a tomato and cucumber salad and an eggplant salad. The class ends with a dinner where you eat your very own masterpiece

DAY 4

After breakfast travel to your Luxury Camp located in the Sahara Desert. En-Route stop at the immense green oasis of Skoura, where you’ll pause for mint tea and to meet the local women, watching as they show you how to bake bread in traditional clay ovens. Then to Todra Gorge, where you’ll stop for lunch in the Todra Valley surrounded by towering rock walls. Later continue till you reach your transport to a luxury desert camp by a train of camels. Saddle up and move off into the vast nothingness of the Sahara, your remote camp eventually appearing like a mirage on the horizon. Stay two nights in Sahara Desert. 

DAY 5

Start the day with sunrise yoga on the dunes before a traditional Moroccan breakfast on the sand. After, feel free to explore the surrounding dunes by foot, or embrace the thrill of coasting down them on a sandboard. Afterwards, it’s time for a sand bath – the ancient healing Berber treatment for muscle and joint aches.  Later, you’ll bake bread like a Berber in the sand. Watch as your Berber guide expertly kneads the dough and places it in its sandy oven. It won’t be long before you notice the bizarre sight of a mound beginning to rise up out of the ground. Don’t fill yourself up too much on bread, though, as you’ve another Moroccan feast being served fireside this evening, to the addictive beat of traditional drummers.

 

DAY 6

After breakfast it’ll be time to load up your camels, leaving camp, and the desert behind you. Today, your journey will take you westwards through a vast wilderness, punctuated by bright oases and remote villages. This is a lonely road that few tourists travel, so enjoy the uninterrupted views of untouched Morocco. By mid-afternoon, you’ll descend into the fertile Draa Valley, otherwise known as the ‘date basket’ of Morocco, where 200km of palm groves follow the life-giving Draa River. You’ll be staying in Agdz in a boutique guest house at the heart of the palm grove. Hidden behind a small door in a mudbrick wall, you’ll find a beautiful pool surrounded by day beds, palm trees and your accommodations traditional architecture. Stay overnight in Draa Valley.

DAY 7

Today your journey continues westward towards the coast. Tazenakht will be your first stop where you’ll be shown how to weave wool for Berber rugs, before exploring the vibrant bazaars here. Next up is Taliouine, the ‘capital’ of the most expensive spice in the world: saffron. Learn all there is to know about this luxurious spice, before stopping for a saffron-infused lunch at a local auberge. You’ll end the day in Ouled Berhil, where you’ll check-in to what was once a Pasha’s palace. Tonight, taste a series of delicious courses of this region. Stay overnight in Ouled Berhil.

 

DAY 8

After breakfast travel to Essaouira, a beach resort. En-route visit the former residence, now museum of the late, internationally acclaimed artist Claudio Bravo in Taroudant. The first sight of crashing waves and surfers as you pull into Taghazout Bay for lunch is sure to induce some excitement. By the time you reach the walled port town of Essaouira, the laid-back, boho vibe of the country’s coast will be palpable. Watch the sunset from La Skala (one of the port bastions) and then settle into your Riad at the heart of the Medina for an atmospheric dinner and rooftop drinks. Stay two nights in Essaouira.

DAY 9

Enjoy your leisurely breakfast as the day is free to relax or explore the city’s old ramparts, the medina, the artisan cooperatives and the Jewish heritage sites. Learn all about the city's history and the influence left over the centuries by the Carthaginians, Romans and Portuguese. Visit the harbour, which is a photographer’s dream with fishing nets laid out on the quayside, boats unloading their catches and the smell of freshly-grilled sardines and lobster in the air.

DAY 10

After breakfast tour finishes with a direct transfer to the Marrakech Airport where you board your onward flight.
