Sri Lanka’s wildlife is as varied as the island itself, ranging from elephants and leopards to egg-laying turtles and a huge variety of birds. With 12 per cent of the country designated for wildlife protection, it is easy to get a taste of Sri Lankan wildlife. Safari parks and sanctuaries, particularly in the southern and central zones, offer the easiest way to see animals in their natural habitat. Stay alert for a sighting of the endangered leopard; take your time as you watch the elephants feeding and washing in a tank or lagoon; or walk quietly near to the turtles until they stop to lay their eggs. Safaris are arranged with cultural tours as it is possible to find a wide range of wildlife in a place surrounded by cultural heritages mainly in the dry zone. One of the key reasons which make Sri Lanka a popular wildlife destination is the availability of expertise. This tour covers a variety of national parks to ensure you get the chance to see all possible wildlife exists on the island.

After breakfast proceeds to Sinharaja Rain forest, it’s a world heritage site, which can also be described as a Tropical Lowland Rainforest or Tropical Wet Evergreen Forest. Whatever its 'technical' name, it is undoubtedly a rich treasure trove of nature with a great diversity of habitats and a vast repository of Sri Lanka’s endemic species. Bird Watching in this ecosystem is particularly interesting because it is known to home of 95% of the endemic birds of Sri Lanka! Stay overnight at the hotel.

Early morning, proceed to Udawalawa National Park with packed breakfast. Enjoy a safari to see Elephant in all their playfulness, whole herds of them, adults and babies bathing and playing in the water or feeding.

You will also get a chance to various birds before travelling to Bundala National park where you get to observe both species of crocodiles existing in the country. A vast concentration of Estuarine Crocodiles lives in the lagoon areas and in the estuary of the Kirindi Oya river, while the Mugger or the freshwater Crocodile dwells in the small freshwater lakes and in the upper regions of the Lake. Morning Safari at Bundala National park to see crocodiles and migratory bird including flamingo, Indian Cormorant, Yellow Bittern, Black-crowned Night and Purple Herons to name few. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Today will be your best chance to see a leopard first thing in the morning as you enjoy safari at Yala National park. The male leopards in Yala are very confident animals and they are often seen walking the tracks during the day. Young males, in particular, seem to have no fear of the jeep, which can lead to some excellent photographic opportunities. A national park is also a home for spotted deer, sambar, wild boar, wild buffaloes, sloth bear, jackal and mongoose.

Travel to Nuwara Eliya, en-route, enjoy a Tea tour, visit a tea plantation and a tea factory, where the best Ceylon Tea in the world is produced. Afternoon free to explore this small but beautiful hill town and stay overnight at hotel.

Enjoy an excursion at Horton Plains to "catch" the remaining Highland endemics. Located on a high windswept plateau at about 7,000 feet is perhaps the most awesome and forbidding region of Sri Lanka. The most awe-inspiring site is the World's End, a terrific escarpment drops vertically for approximately 1,000 feet and falls away almost as steeply for another 4,000 feet. The Horton Plains form the eastern extremity of the Peak Wilderness Sanctuary and are home of Black Eagles, blue magpies and other rare birds, not to mention the occasional black leopard, deer, sambar, jackals and purple-faced Monkey. Later travel to Kandy and if time permits we visit the famous and sacred Temple of the Tooth relic. Stay overnight at the hotel.

Proceed to Wasgamuwa via Knuckles valley, a major ecotourism area stretches over 155 sq km and contains five major forest formations, a wide variety of rare and endemic flora and fauna and some breathtaking mountain scenery. It is a real paradise for those who love to hike or Mountain Bike offering numerous mountainous trails that journey across clear rivers, through dense forests, past flowing waterfalls, lush tea plantations and alongside terraced paddy fields with colourful Kandyan home gardens.

Enjoy a safari at Wasgamuwa National Park, the presence of many small-scale ancient reservoirs and several other ruins and ancient religious sites add vast historical importance to this National Park and its wide biodiversity. Spotting large flocks of birds on dead treetops and big herds of dear and buffalos grazing when passing by a water source is always a pleasant sight. Peacocks roam this park in abundance were having a glimpse of a bear is not very uncommon. Elephants, numbering about 150 are not confined to this park. Later travel to Negombo and evening free to explore this fishing town. Stay overnight at Negombo
