International Flights

The tour packages are usually “Land Only” and do not include international flights.  We therefore recommend that you contact us or your travel agent to book your flights well in advance of travel, when you can generally gain access to specials and discounted airfares. This will ensure you can travel on the days that suit you and your tour.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is compulsory on all of our journeys. Speak to us or your travel agent about comprehensive insurance to cover your travel arrangements. This must critically cover medical expenses in case of an emergency.  Note that travel insurance automatically provided with credit cards generally does not provide adequate cover. Its your responsibility to ensure that you have appropriate and comprehensive travel insurance.

Medical Information

Our elderly travellers who are aged 70 years or more, or with a per-existing condition that affects their fitness to travel or any medical dietary requirement, must be advised at the time of booking. We recommend all travellers should visit their Doctor for these aforementioned purposes and/or to confirm that they are physically able to undertake the day-to-day requirements of the tour.

Selecting Your Holiday Type

Most of our journeys are suited to those with normal fitness and mobility levels. To assist you in choosing a journey best for you we have graded our tours;

Easy Paced: These programs are set at a comfortable pace. Walking and climbing of stairs involved is generally in and around major tourist attractions though you may require walking from road till boat jetty while embarking or disembarking boats.

Moderate: These tours are not strenuous but you will require good amount of fitness as they may include days with long periods of walking or soft trekking, climbing of stairs, embarking and disembarking boats and where longer distances may be travelled by uneven roads.

Adventurous: These refer to programs where your physical fitness needs to be on highest level. Trekking, cycling, climbing, walking and more adventurous activities may be included.

Getting Around

Comfort is our first priority. All our coaches are air-conditioned with push back seats. We even offer 30-35 seater coach when only 16 people are in a group, providing everyone a window seats. Our train journeys in air-conditioning sleeper class where bedding is provided by the train attendant and itineraries that include domestic flight to connect destination we use economy class.

Passport & Visas

India: Visa is required for all foreign nationals and you must obtain an Indian visa prior to leaving home as visa processing varies country to country. Passport must be valid for at least six months before you commence travel in India. Travel to Sikkim requires a special permit; application may be made when applying for a standard Indian visa at the local Indian High Commission.

As of 25 Sep 2013 nationals and passport holder of New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, Finland, Luxem Bourg, Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia and Myanmar can avail visa-on-arrival (VoA) facility upon disembarking at international airports Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kochi and Trivandrum only. You will require to pay fee along with require documentation and is subject to verification and satisfaction of the Immigration. Please contact high commission of India for updated information.

Sri Lanka: Every tourist visiting Sri Lanka required visa prior to departure. Visa must be obtained atleast 01 months prior to arrival in Sri Lanka by visiting www.eta.gov.lk The Tourist visa is valid for stay within 30 days. Passport must be valid for at least six months before you commence travel to Sri Lanka. Fee will apply.

Nepal: Visa is required for all foreign nationalities and the best way to apply for visa is from the Royal Nepalese diplomatic missions in your home country. Tourist Visa also can be obtained on arrival. Passport must be valid for at least six months before you commence travel in Nepal. Fee will apply.

Bhutan: All foreign nationals require visa for Bhutan.

Visa can be arranged by TOTAL HOLIDAY OPTIONS. To process this we require clear readable colour copy of passport (page containing passport no and face picture in JPEG or PDF format) and current colour passport photograph and at least 30 days prior to date of entry into Bhutan. Remaining validity of passport should be at least 6 months from the date of exit from Bhutan.

Tourism Council of Bhutan issues visa clearance letter closer to travelling date which we email or fax you or your local travel agent. Travellers are required to produce aforesaid visa clearance copy at the time of check-in for their flights while those entering Bhutan by surface via Phuentsholing or Samdrup Jonkhar, they are required to produce this Visa Clearance letter at the Immigration counter. Actual visa is stamped at passport on arrival in Bhutan.

Visa only service is not offered in Bhutan, you would have to book a service tour package from TOTAL HOLIDAY OPTIONS that includes accommodation, guided tours, transfers etc

Myanmar: Visa is required for all nationalities.

Visa can be arranged by TOTAL HOLIDAY OPTIONS. To process this we require international flight details, clear readable colour copy of passport (page containing passport no and face picture in JPEG or PDF format) and current colour passport photograph and at least 30 days prior to date of entry into Myanmar. Remaining validity of passport should be at least 6 months from the date of exit from Myanmar.

Day 01: Arrival Yangon 

On arrival at the airport, meet your tour manager at the arrival lounge who will assist you to transfer to the hotel. Stay two nights in Yangon. (B,D)

Day 02: Yangon 

After brief introduction of the tour we start commences our city sightseeing tour with a visit to the Shwedagon Pagoda most revered Buddhist temple in Myanmar. Later visit the city centre followed by a short walk to the Strand hotel, a relic of the colonial-era legacy which was opened in 1901 by the famed Sakies brothers; and photo stop at  Kandawgyi (Royal) Lake. Afternoon explore famous Bogyoke Market before sunset viewing at Botahtaung Pagoda and Jetty. If time permits, we will take a walk at Chinatown area, the bustling point of Yangon. (B,D)

Day 03: Yangon - Golden Rock 

Today travel to Kyaikhtiyo; en-route stop in Htaukkyan to visit the final resting place for more than 27,000 Allied Soldiers who perished during the World War II. Arrive late afternoon at the base camp and board local transport followed by a short walk up the stairs which lead us to the top of the mountain. Visit Golden Rock; one of Myanmar’s main pilgrimage sites; a huge boulder covered by gold leaf and delicately balanced on the edge of a cliff.  Overnight stay at Kyaikhtiyo. (B,D)

Day 04: Kyaikhtiyo – Bago - Yangon    

Travel back to Yangon, en route stop in Bago the ancient capital of the Mon Kingdom in the 15th century and a town steeped in legend. Before continuing our travel we also visit town market and a Mon neighbourhood where the locals once produced woven textiles. Arrive late evening and stay overnight at Yangon. (B,D)

Day 05: Yangon - Bagan 

Morning we board the flight to Bagan, one of the Asia’s most popular archaeological destinations and one out of two most pre-eminent religious old cities in South East Asia. Later visit Nyaung Oo local market, Wetkyiinn village to witness 13th century ‘cave temple’ with fine frescoes and Anada Temple known to be masterpieces surviving and remaining in Bagan. Afternoon visit a lacquer ware factory followed by a visit to local village. Before the sundown, we would take a boat ride along the Ayeyarwaddy River to view the sunset and relax. Stay overnight at Bagan. (B,D)

Day 06: Bagan  

Today after breakfast we enjoy city sightseeing at Asia’s best kept archaeological destination. Explore the significant pagodas and temples dating back more than 1500 years of history. Some of the major attractions are Dhamayangyi Temple, Ngagayon Temple and Ngagayon Temple. After the lunch we explore the local markets and the villages to understand the local life. By afternoon we climb up to one of the temple to experience the sunset over Bagan. (B,D)

Day 07: Kalaw – Pindaya - Inle   

After breakfast travel to Mt Popa, an extinct volcano located in mid of a preserved forest.  Its also home to Myanmar's most powerful "nats". While returning we stop at villages to watch the collection of juice from palm trees and its conversion into palm sugar. Lunch at local restaurant and rest of the afternoon is at leisure to explore the archaeological sites of Bagan by own pace. (B,D)

Day 08: Bagan – Heho – Pindaya – Inle    

Today we fly to Heho and travel to Pindaya. Visit the Pindaya caves – natural lime stone caves not only with numerous stalactites and stalagmites but also filled with about 8000 various sizes of Buddha images believed to be there since 11th century. Later travel to Inle en route stop and vist the traditional shan umbrella workshop. On arrival we take a short boat ride through the lake to reach our hotel. Overnight in Inle. (B,D)

Day 09: Inle                                 

Explore the beautiful Inle lake surrounded by Shan plateau and the life of inthar tribes. We will visit the regional market which held on a 5 days rotation basis in different areas of the lake. We will visit Phaungdawoo Pagoda – famous for its richly gilded five small Buddha images; Ngaphechaung monastery (also known as jumping cat monastery) was built more than one and a half century ago and features a number of interesting old Buddha Images. Other attractions include: unique leg-rowing style and fishing method of the Inthar, floating gardens used as vegetable plantations, silk and cotton weaving cottages and black smith. Overnight at Inle. (B,D)

Day 10: Visit Inle – Mandalay  

Morning we will embark the boat to Indein village– a small village located at the south western bank of the lake and famous for its ruined clusters of pagodas. We will visit the local villages with an opportunity to talk to the villagers during the sightseeing. Lunch at local restaurant and by evening board the flight to Mandalay. Overnight in Mandalay. (B,D)

Day 11: Amarapura Excursion 

Today explore the last capital of Myanmar Kingdom with a visit to Mahamuni Buddha image - believed to be cast in bronze in front of Buddha himself and nowadays gilded with thick gold leaf. We will visit the workshops of gold leaf hammering, tapestry making, marble and wood carving and bronze casting. After Lunch drive to Amarapura, former Royal capital of Myanmar but the suburb of Mandalay nowadays. Conclude the day with a visit to U Bein bridge, the world’s longest teak wood bridge across the Taungthaman lake, an ideal place to enjoy the sunset. Overnight in Mandalay. (B,D)

Day 12: Mingun Excursion

Today we take a short boat ride to reach Mingun. You will witness the local life along the river as you cruise through Ayeyarwaddy river. Upon reaching Mingun you will see an incomplete pagoda, Pathodawgyi, believed to be one of the largest brick base in the world and it would be one of the wonders of the world in case if it was completed. We will visit the Mingun Bell, said to be the world’s biggest un – cracked ringing bell and Myatheindan pagoda, represents for Buddhist cosmology. Return to Mandalay and after the lunch we visit the includes Mandalay Royal Palace– a well-planned palace located at the heart of today’s Mandalay city. Later we visit Kuthodaw Pagota to see the world largest book. Conclude the day with a visit to Mandalay hill, regarded as a natural watch tower in the plain region of Mandalay to view the sunset. Overnight at Mandalay. (B,D)

Day 13: Mandalay Departure

Breakfast at the hotel. Check out by 1200 hrs and tour finishes with direct transfer to the Mandalay airport to board the flight for onward destination. (B)
